Sound coupled with consciousness creates an extraordinarily powerful vehicle for change. This topic has been covered in numerous writings including many articles on the www.healingsounds.com website. For this article, I’m going to focus on a topic that has received relatively little attention with regard to sound and consciousness—that of the subject of coherence.

Few people question why it is the “AH” sound that is suggested to be utilized on this day—especially after information is provided about the “AH” being the sound of the heart as well as being a universal sound of love and compassion. The “AH” is a sound that everyone can relate to as a sound to create together.

However, the specifics of the time being 12 noon EST seems to be more questionable. In truth, as we note in our detailed announcement, on one level it really doesn’t matter what time during Feb. 14th that sound is made. Any sacred sound created any time during that day is a good sound because any sacred sound that is ever created is always a good sound.  In addition, certain traditions consider that space and time are just be illusions of our consciousness, and time and space do not matter.

This perspective is acknowledged. Nevertheless, it seems that when creating an energy such as the  global wave of intentionalized sound we produce on World Sound Healing Day, having this sound occur at the same time throughout the planet may be a key to the optimal effect that results. Why is this?

This may be because of the vibratory phenomenon known as coherence. Scientifically, when two waves are in coherence, they are described as each having the same frequency as the other and both being in phase. The sound energy they create is multiplied. Coherence strengthens the power of the waves that are created.

Coherence occurs through nature and in particular, is most important in terms of its effect on our brain and body. In particular, if we examine the relationship of the brain and the heart, we find that when the heart and the brain are in coherence together (what sound people might call being in “resonance” together), both are locked into the same rhythms and oscillating at the same frequency. When this occurs, the electro-magnetic field created by the heart can be 5,000 times great than that of the brain and the synergistic field that is creating is extraordinary. When they’re out of sync, this does not occur and this field does not manifest to such a powerful degree.

Manifesting a coherent waveform of sound through creating the same sound at the same time—such as the AH sound at noon EST for World Sound Healing Day—really helps makes this waveform of intentionalized sound an extraordinary force of positive energy. The optimal power of this sonic wave is, no doubt, due in part to the phenomenon of coherence. When people gather together with agreement a sound to make and a time to make it, it really is more effective than when the sound is less coherent.  When different sounds at different times are made, the energy created becomes much more diffuse than the coherent waveform.

The website: www.templeofsacredsound.org was created as a Sacred Sound Temple in cyberspace which people throughout the planet can utilize in order to assist focusing their intentionalized sound. It’s been especially effect for events such as World Sound Healing Day.

There are instructions on www.templeofsacredsound.org to assist the person making the sound in achieving a personal state of coherence between their heart and their brain. This is a relatively simple process involving breath and visualization. It’s something anyone can do. This process of creating coherence within ourselves seems to strengthen the field we create, as well as the energy and the effect of the sound we’re making.

It may not possible to gather everyone throughout the planet to sound together at the same time. And. as noted, any sacred sound created at any time during that day is a good sound.  Nevertheless, the manifestation of www.templeofsacredsound.org has made it much easier for people to gather and sound together at the same time, assisting the process of Global Harmonization: creating harmony and peace on the Earth.  Thus, we ask that for optimum effect, in order to create the most focused and coherent waveform for planetary healing, that you please join us at 12 noon Eastern Standard Time at: www.templeofsacredsound.org.

On February 14, 2009, we celebrated the 7th Annual World Sound Healing Day with people throughout the planet toning an “AH” sound for planetary peace. The main focus of the event was a 12 noon Eastern Time, (US) but there were global sonic events throughout the day. It seems our soundings were most effective.

It’s very exciting for me to share recent data from the Global Consciousness Project (GCP), Princeton, NJ. The GCP uses data collected from equipment throughout the world to analyze and chart what many believe are changes in the consciousness of the planet. The chart below is of February 14, 2009. While there are many variables which influence and affect this data, it is truly remarkable. You can see a rise in the graph that peaks shortly after the noontime event. 1). On Feb. 14th, anytime, anywhere (wherever you are, whatever time it is), take at least 5 minutes out of your day and project the heart sound “Ah” filled with Light & Love to Mother Earth, as a Sonic Valentine for Global Harmonization.

2). If possible, please gather with others in a group at any time on Feb. 14th to collectively tone together for this event.

3). On Feb. 14th, at 11 AM EST, we invite you to come to www.healthylife.net for a very special World Sound Healing Day presentation with Jonathan Goldman & Andi Goldman. Then, at 12 noon, EST, please go to www.templeofsacredsound.org .

4). On Feb. 14th, at 12 noon EST (U.S. Eastern Standard Time), please tone the heart sound “Ah” as a Sonic Valentine for Mother Earth for 5 minutes or more. I’d like to take this opportunity to offer some new suggestions on how you can participate in the 2009 World Sound Healing Day

We’ve always received such extraordinary feedback from you with regard to your participation in this event.  Now here’s an opportunity to post your feedback on this blog.

So many of you have joined us in this event throughout the years, and many of you  have initiated your own events in conjunction with World Sound Healing Day.  What a blessing!  It is my greatest hope that even more of you will facilitate and organize your own events this year.

While it’s always been my belief that even a small number of individuals who project intentionalized sound to the planet for Global Harmonization is powerful, it is my understanding that “the more the merrier”. That is why, this year, I’m calling for as much collaborating and co-creation with regard to World Sound Healing Day as possible and putting out the call to organize events in your area.

As you may know, last year, we manifested  www.templeofsacredsound.org as a gathering place in cyberspace for those throughout the planet to use as a vehicle to assist in sending Healing Sounds to the planet. Our blog Temple of Sacred Sound continues to be an extraordinary website for this purpose, and on Feb. 14h, it will be a great venue for those joining us to tone together in cyberspace.

This year, through our blog, I’d like to ask that you present not only your comments regarding the energy of using sound to harmonize the planet,  but also to discuss possible ways that February 14th can become a potent day for sounding forth for Global Harmonization. And how you may create and facilitate sounding for global peace.

If you’ll be joining us in cyberspace on Feb. 14th, let us know. If you’ll be sending out announcements about this event to others, let us know. If you’ll be creating a physical plane event on this day, let us know. Let’s really have the Global Community of Sound Healers make their voices heard.  The more people who read about the thoughts, ideas and events that will occur in conjunction with World Sound Healing Day, the more powerful and profound the thought form that we manifest will be.

World Sound Healing Day is YOUR event—it is for each and every one of you who understands and utilize the power of sound to heal and transform. This is a golden opportunity to bring sound healing to Mother Earth.

In addition, my wife Andi Goldman and I will be hosting  a radio show on Saturday, Feb. 14th on www.healthylife.net that will lead into our noon time (Eastern Time) World Sound Healing experience.

On a local level, we’ll also be facilitating a free one hour toning experience here in Boulder, Colorado  later that after noon.  Along with our toning the “AH” sound for planetary healing, we will also have a large quartz crystal bowl filled with water in the center of our toning circle. After our hour of toning, everyone gets to drink of that water which is truly luminescent in its taste and effect. The remainder of the water will be poured into Boulder Creek, taking the energy of this World Sound Healing Day event into the ocean.

This is just one example of what can be done on this powerful and important day of planetary healing.  I encourage you to be creative and to let us know any other thoughts, ideas and activities you may be planning for this World Sound Healing Day.  It will be great to hear from you.

These days we seem to find our planet and ourselves in a difficult situation. Without judgment about why this has occurred, I’d prefer to focus on what could be done to assist this current situation.

Much of what’s going on seems to be a result of what is often called the “footprint of man”-the result of human interaction with each other and with our planet.  From this perspective, if we caused it and if we are part of the problem, then we can be part of the solution!  Humans are an amazing species and once we become aware of something, we can often focus our attention on it and find a solution. All that may be needed is for a portion of human consciousness to awaken to the reality that there is something that needs to be fixed. The question is: “How does this happen?” How can we as a species begin to become awakened?

A number of different scientific studies have validated the effects of meditation and prayer on a planetary level, including the Global Consciousness Project, Princeton, New Jersey. Through the use of random number generators (called EGGS) spread throughout the world, researchers have found that during certain events in which large portions of the consciousness of the population are engaged, the numbers from these EGGS become less random. When this occurs, the data may be collected and the numbers charted. Anyone who has ever seen the results of this knows that it creates a wave. These waves seem to indicate that global events are measurable. It is almost as though the consciousness of the planet can be charted through these EGGs.

In order to be registered via the EGGs, these global events are not based upon excitement, such as the Super Bowl. Instead, they must effect the shared emotions of the consciousness of those involved in the event.  In particular, the emotion of compassion seems to be of primary importance with regard to this. Events of cataclysmic natures, such as an earthquake or a tsunami, can be charted.  So can positive events such as global meditations and peace prayers.

Studies on Transcendental Meditation (TM) have also shown the positive effects of meditation and prayer on global events.  In studies such as in a paper published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, there is data to indicate that during peace meditations, violent behavior in areas where these meditations had occurred declined considerably. The power of our consciousness is astonishing.

The power of sound to enhance these activities cannot be underestimated. Sound acts as a focusing mechanism for our consciousness. This understanding is encapsulated through formulas I’ve created, which include Frequency + Intent = Healing and its corollaries Vocalization + Visualization = Manifestation and Sound + Belief = Outcome. Our intentions, visualizations, feelings, and beliefs are all able to amplify the power and effect of sound. Conversely, sound, frequencies, tones, and vocalizations are all able to boost the power and enhance the effect of our meditations and prayers.

Together, these two elements of sound and the consciousness encoded in the sound combine in a synergistic manner to create a truly potent force that can move mountains. It is no accident that most prayer on this planet is chanted aloud-the ancients knew of the ability of sacred sound to amplify and empower our prayers. We are once again beginning to rediscover this.

Numerous planetary sound healing events have taken place over the years, including World Sound Healing Day, which takes place on February 14th of each year. We are now initiating a Global Sound Healing, which will occur on September 21st of this year in conjunction with the U.N.’s International Day of Peace.  This event will take place at noon New York Time (EDT), as well as noon in your local time zone. Together we will sound the “AH”-the universal sound of love and appreciation in order to assist the creation of peace on the planet. We will first begin by spending one minute in silence at noon to honor the International Day of Peace’s moment of silence.  At 12:01 p.m. we will start the toning, until 12:05, or longer if you want.

Our intentions-our feelings, visualizations and beliefs-are encoded upon the sounds we make.  Sound has the power to focus and amplify our thoughts, prayers and meditations.  When we project the energy of love and appreciation while sounding the “AH” on September 21st, we will be able to shift and raise consciousness and awareness on a global scale.
