WHAT: World Sound Healing Day

“The Sound Heard Around the World!”. Every February 14th, people throughout the planet join join together with their intentionalized sound to project a sonic valentine of love & appreciation to Gaia, our Mother Earth. We tone the heart sound “Ah” for a minimum of 5 minutes, or longer. Often people will gather groups together and facilitate this toning experience in their respective communities. If possible, we ask that you take at least 5 minutes to tone at 12 noon (Local Time), and we encourage the sounding of the “Ah” by yourself or with a group at any time during the course of the day.

On World Sound Healing Day, bring peace and healing to Mother Earth through our internationalized loving sounds. Sound healers, meditators, peace activists and lovers of all humanity and sentient consciousness send a Sonic Valentine to the Earth with the heart sound “AH” filled with the intention of Peace and Love! This is an opportunity in which YOU can take part in to assist Global Harmonization: the process of creating harmony and peace on the Earth. Your participation and co-creation of this event is both appreciated as well as being necessary for World Sound Healing Day to manifest.

If you do not have a computer or are not near one at 12 noon (Local Time)- that’s okay, just send forth an intentionalized “Ah” for Global Harmonization. Local toning groups will be occurring throughout the planet at various times during the day, February 14th, with the intention of assisting planetary consciousness through sound.

Sound coupled with intention has the ability to heal and transform. We will sound an “AH” sending a heart wave of Sound that will resonate throughout the planet. Now is the time for you to be part of the Celestial Choir and resonate together for World Sound Healing Day! We can create major positive shifts on our beloved planet. Of particular note is the cohesive energetic field created by both individuals and groups as we tone together. Certain prophecies suggest that when people tone together for planetary peace and harmony, it can have a significant effect in restoring balance upon the earth.Through sounding together we will make a difference.

HOW:  Sound the heart sound “AH” for 5 minutes.

We will simply sound an “AH” filled with the intention of Peace and Love for 5 minutes at noon (Local Time) Time.  If possible, please join us in cyberspace at Temple of Sacred Sound as we resonate together for Global Harmonization. The “AH” is a universal, non-denominational heart sound that when projected with focused energy is extremely powerful and effective. As previously stated, if you do not have access to or are not near a computer at 12 noon Local Time, simply send forth an intentionalized “Ah” for Global Harmonization regardless of where you may be. And if 12 noon doesn’t work for you or your group, sounding with love and appreciation any time of that day will be of great benefit, assisting in the creation of a coherent waveform that will affect the entire Earth. While 12 noon Local Time is optimal, gathering your group any time during Feb. 14 will be wonderful for the planet.

Welcome to 2012. These are certainly interesting times. We are now at a pivitol point in our evolutionary process on this planet. Each Valentine’s Day, February 14th, for nearly a decade, there has been an event called World Sound Healing Day.  On this day, at 12 noon Eastern Standard Time (EST–New York Time), thousands of people throughout the planet join together and sound forth for 5 minutes with the “AH”, created and projected with the energy of compassion and love, sending a sonic valentine to Gaia, our Mother Earth. This year, on Monday, February 14, 2011, we’ll be celebrating the 9th Annual World Sound Healing Day.  .

We ask that if possible, people join us at this 12 noon EST time at the website: www.templeofsacredsound.org, a sacred place in cyberspace where we can tone together from anywhere in the world.  It is wonderful to be able to connect with each other over the Internet and this is strongly encouraged. However, there is nothing like making sound together with others in the same live space. In conjunction with our 12:00 noon 5 minute toning event, we like to request and suggest that those who can, might like to organize their own World Sound Healing Day event at anytime during the day on Feb. 14. My wife Andi and I facilitate a toning circle from 5:00- 6:00 pm that evening for local people in Boulder, CO to sound forth with the “AH” with encoded internationalized sounds of love for Mother Earth.

People frequently ask how to do this.  It’s really quite simple.  There are no requirements or restrictions for creating such an event other than to gather people together to make an “AH” sound and have them feel the energy of compassion and love for our planet while they are making this sound. It’s that easy. The numbers necessary to create a group can be as few as two or three and as many as a hundred or more.  You can sound together with a small group of friends and it will sound wonderful. Or you can create an event that’s much larger and open to the public.
Oftentimes when a group is created and people come together in person, what happens is that even those people you might not know or know very well, will have become friends once you sound together.  This might be because of the release of oxytocin, the “trust” hormone that’s occurs when we’re sounding together with others. Or it could because when you’re resonating in a group with the energy of sacred sound, something wonderful and magical happens. Whatever the reason, toning together is a profound and remarkable occurrence.
It’s important to remember that this is not a “musical” experience, but rather a sound experience and it’s not necessary for anyone to have a background in music or singing in order to partake in a World Sound Healing Day event.  The “AH” is an extremely natural sound that we make when we’re feeling in a loving space. While it’s simply a vowel—quite non-denomination—it’s also a sacred sound and one that is considered to be the sound of the Heart Chakra, the center of love and compassion.  It is an easy sound to make and it feels great when you tone it. In addition, it sounds wonderful when intoned in a group. On World Sound Healing Day, you become part of a Celestial Choir that is helping to bring peace and harmony to our planet.
Some people find it useful to have the “AH sound that is found on our website www.templeofsacredsound.org playing in the background in order to help assist the field of sound that is being created.  Thus, you have the live group being connected with others throughout the world via the Internet.  In addition, there’s a live “AH” that can be downloaded from this website (to be found on this same section:   http://www.healingsounds.com/sounds/

You can create whatever sort of ritual or ceremony that you like. Some spend much time organizing World Sound Healing Day events, renting out churches or other such facilities.  Others simply gather with others in their living room or similar places and make sound together.  As noted, there are no rules or regulations on how to create a World Sound Healing Day event other than to sound the “AH” together with the energy of compassion.
Many people like to gather in a circle, usually sitting on either a chair or the floor. Some like to visualize a holographic image of the Earth in the center of this circle and that as they are making this sound, they are bathing our planet with the energies of Light & Love through Sound.  Many people will organize groups so they can sound together at noon Eastern Time, in conjunction with a majority of people on the planet. But as is suggested in World Sound Healing Day information: “If 12 noon doesn’t work for you or your group, sounding with love and appreciation any time of that day will be of great benefit, assisting in the creation of a coherent waveform that will beneficially affect the entire Earth.”
Local toning groups will be occurring throughout the world at various times during the day of February 14th, with the intention of assisting planetary consciousness through sound.  These sonic events are wonderful, helping create a synergistic effect of positive shift and change for the world.”

Here, in Boulder, for example, there will be a large gathering of hundreds of people later in the day where we tone the heart sound “AH” for over an hour. In the middle of the group is a large quartz crystal bowl, which is filled with water. At the completion of our toning ceremony, each participant receives a cup of this water to drink. The water tastes like divine nectar, filled with the energy of Light & Love that we have projected to the planet. The remainder of this water is then placed in a creek that flows into the continental divide and ultimately takes this energy to the oceans that surround our country.

This is but one idea to utilize for this event. There are many, many others. World Sound Healing Day is a day of both personal and planetary healing. We heal the planet; we heal ourselves. We heal ourselves and we heal the planet.

Sound coupled with consciousness creates an extraordinarily powerful vehicle for change. This topic has been covered in numerous writings including many articles on the www.healingsounds.com website. For this article, I’m going to focus on a topic that has received relatively little attention with regard to sound and consciousness—that of the subject of coherence.

Few people question why it is the “AH” sound that is suggested to be utilized on this day—especially after information is provided about the “AH” being the sound of the heart as well as being a universal sound of love and compassion. The “AH” is a sound that everyone can relate to as a sound to create together.

However, the specifics of the time being 12 noon EST seems to be more questionable. In truth, as we note in our detailed announcement, on one level it really doesn’t matter what time during Feb. 14th that sound is made. Any sacred sound created any time during that day is a good sound because any sacred sound that is ever created is always a good sound.  In addition, certain traditions consider that space and time are just be illusions of our consciousness, and time and space do not matter.

This perspective is acknowledged. Nevertheless, it seems that when creating an energy such as the  global wave of intentionalized sound we produce on World Sound Healing Day, having this sound occur at the same time throughout the planet may be a key to the optimal effect that results. Why is this?

This may be because of the vibratory phenomenon known as coherence. Scientifically, when two waves are in coherence, they are described as each having the same frequency as the other and both being in phase. The sound energy they create is multiplied. Coherence strengthens the power of the waves that are created.

Coherence occurs through nature and in particular, is most important in terms of its effect on our brain and body. In particular, if we examine the relationship of the brain and the heart, we find that when the heart and the brain are in coherence together (what sound people might call being in “resonance” together), both are locked into the same rhythms and oscillating at the same frequency. When this occurs, the electro-magnetic field created by the heart can be 5,000 times great than that of the brain and the synergistic field that is creating is extraordinary. When they’re out of sync, this does not occur and this field does not manifest to such a powerful degree.

Manifesting a coherent waveform of sound through creating the same sound at the same time—such as the AH sound at noon EST for World Sound Healing Day—really helps makes this waveform of intentionalized sound an extraordinary force of positive energy. The optimal power of this sonic wave is, no doubt, due in part to the phenomenon of coherence.
